DWI Penalties for Minors
In connection to DWI and laws dealing with alcohol in Texas, anyone below the age of 21 years is categorized as a minor. As stated earlier, minors are not allowed to drive with any trace of alcohol in their blood. First offenders lose their right to drive, face probation and fines, and are required to enroll in community service and an alcohol education class. Furthermore, first offenders may be required to install an ignition interlock device. DWI penalties for minors increase with every subsequent offense and in most cases include jail time.
